Netflix dropped the first teaser trailer for Jim Mickle’s upcoming series adaptation of Sweet Tooth, based on Jeff Lemire’s DC Comic book of the same name, which hails from executive producers Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey. The video features Will Forte’s character as he tries his best to protect a hybrid deer-boy from the bad people who are still hunting his kind. The eight-episode fantasy drama is scheduled to make its debut on Friday, June 4.

The series hails from Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey’s Team Downey, Hap and Leonard co-creator Jim Mickle, Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz and Warner Bros. TV. It stars Christian Convery, Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar and Will Forte with James Brolin as the voice of the narrator.

Sweet Tooth follows the adventures of Gus (Convery) — part deer, part boy — who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself in search of answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.

Sweet Tooth is created and directed by Jim Mickle from a screenplay he co-wrote with Beth Schwartz (Arrow), who are both serving as showrunners. Executive producers are Mickle, Schwartz, Team Downey’s Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, and Amanda Burrell; and Linda Moran with Team Downey’s Evan Moore set as a producer.
