After five weeks of release, Tamil blockbuster Leo has nearly exhausted its box office run, grossing Rs. 620 crore worldwide. The Indian market contributed Rs. 422 crore, with overseas audiences contributing an additional Rs. 199 crore. The Vijay-starrer is now the second highest-grossing Kollywood film in both Indian and global box office history, trailing only 2.0.

However, in its native Tamil language, Leo has etched its name in history as the highest-grossing film ever, surpassing the Rs. 500 crore mark with a total of Rs. 529 crore, breaking the previous record of Rs. 495 crore held by Jailer.

Leo made an explosive box office debut at the start of its run, breaking almost every opening record in Kollywood. As a result, it surpassed Ponniyin Selvan to become the highest-grossing film in its home state of Tamil Nadu. It also became the highest-grossing Kollywood film in Kerala, while it was Vijay’s highest-grossing film in Karnataka and Telugu state. Despite not being released in the high-collecting national chain cinemas, the Hindi dubbed version of the film did well. Leo became the highest-grossing Kollywood film of all time on a global scale.
