Thalapathy Vijay’s “Leo: Bloody Sweet” enjoys a massive opening earning around Rs 145 crore globally on its first day. Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, was released amid numerous controversies in the Hindi and Telugu film industries. The film earned Rs 63 crore nett in the domestic market and Rs 74 crore gross in India, which is less than Jawan. Tamil Nadu, As per Sacnilk.com, Jawan earned ₹75 crore nett in India on day one of its release.Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which was released in August, made Rs 44.5 crore on its opening day.
Tamil Nadu, which is the primary market for Vijay, did not hold any early morning shows and the film grossed Rs 30 crore gross, followed by Rs 15 crore gross in the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana market. In Karnataka, the film grossed Rs 14 crore on the opening day, and in Kerala, Leo grossed Rs 11 crore (a record).
On its first day, Leo received 86.92% Tamil occupancy, with morning shows receiving nearly 86.35% occupancy and night shows receiving over 90% occupancy. The Vijay-starrer has 1282 shows in Chennai, but it remains to be seen whether the film can maintain the momentum it generated on its first day. Because distributors reportedly include pre-release revenue in opening day collections, Tamil-language films tend to be frontloaded.
Vijay’s Leo has already surpassed Rajinikanth’s Jailer as the biggest Tamil film of the year. Vijay is fresh off a string of hits that includes Master, Beast, and Varisu. Leo is a character in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s shared cinematic universe, alongside Kaithi and Vikram.
