AnupamaKarthik Subbaraj recently spoke with Baradwaj Rangan for Galatta Plus. His upcoming movie, Jigarthanda Double X, will be released in theatres on November 10, 2023.The director was asked about his experience working with a well-known director like Shankar, whose upcoming film, Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, has a story written by Karthik Subbaraj.
Speaking about the scope and subject matter, Karthik revealed that the movie is a directorial endeavour directed by S Shankar and is a massive canvas telling a straight political story. A famous hero is also necessary because of the film’s grand narrative.
In addition, the film heavily relies on big politics, and the director feels unprepared for a subject with such a political undertone. Karthik chose to tell the story to S Shankar, who found it interesting, because the movie requires a big director and cannot be completed by him alone.
Karthik Subbaraj further stated that S Shankar wrote the intricate screenplay, despite his having written the movie’s plot. Karthik related that during a discussion they had together, Shankar expanded on his original idea and added much grander elements.
He was also asked if he ever felt the ego for working for another director, despite being a successful director himself, to which Karthik replied “No…no, I’m very happy and all only.”
