After much anticipation, it was officially announced today that acclaimed actor Dhanush will take on the lead role, portraying the legendary musician.
Directed by the talented filmmaker behind “Captain Miller,” the biopic aims to capture the essence of Ilaiyaraaja’s remarkable life and contributions to the Indian film industry since the late 1970s.
At the film’s launch event, attended by Ilaiyaraaja’s longtime companion and actor Kamal Haasan as the chief guest, Haasan shared his insights and advice for the director, emphasizing the importance of honoring not only the musical legacy of Ilaiyaraaja but also his broader impact as a cultural icon, including his recognition as a Bharat Ratna.
A recently shared video by Thi Cinemas showcases Haasan providing valuable guidance to director Arun Matheswaran, urging him not to buckle under pressure and to stay true to his unique vision. Haasan also stressed the significance of drawing inspiration from Ilaiyaraaja’s life and incorporating its essence into the film’s narrative.
