The Oscar performance of RRR’s Naatu Naatu left fans across the globe wondering why weren’t Indians dancing to the song. Many pointed out the irony that the performance, which was an anti-colonial expression, didn’t feature the people to whom it belonged. On top of that, there was another question of why Ram Charan and Jr NTR weren’t recreating the magic on stage and chose to let other dancers steal their thunder.
According to a recent report, the Academy was prepared to make all the necessary arrangements for the two actors to practise the song and dance before the big event because they were originally supposed to be a part of the dance. Both actors stated that they were unable to perform at the Oscars due to prior commitments, according to producer Raj Kapoor, who has worked closely with the academy for years. He collaborated with the artistic group behind Naatu Naatu’s Oscars live performance.
He was quoted as saying, “Originally, the two leads were going to be the stars of the number alongside the singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava. The show was very instrumental in helping secure working visas for their team to be able to come to the US to be a part of the performance.”
However, the stars informed the Academy in late February that they would be attending the Oscars but were not comfortable performing the song live on stage, so the Academy ended up bringing in other professional dancers for the performance, and they had to practise and rehearse it in a short period of time
