It is now official! Thangalaan, Chiyaan Vikram’s upcoming film, has finally received a release date. On the occasion of Republic Day, the film will be released in theatres on January 26. This means that the film has decided not to participate in the Pongal. The film’s teaser, on the other hand, will be released on November 1.
Earlier in the day, Vikram had announced that the release date update will be out at 5pm today, which had the fans of the actor excited.
Thangalaan is billed as a period drama, which is set in the pre-independence era. The plot is said to be inspired by the lives of mine workers in the Kolar Gold Field in Karnataka and is set in the British era. The film’s director Pa Ranjith had earlier stated that the film was an attempt to gain respect for a community which has been overlooked for generations. Vikram has undergone a massive makeover for the film and his fiery look, long hair and beard, has already become a sensational hit.
