Boycott Jawan Trend has begun to take over social media sites in advance of its release. The advance booking for Shahrukh Khan and Nayanthara’s upcoming film ‘Jawan’ has skyrocketed. In terms of advanced box office collection, Atlee’s directorial has done a fantastic job in both overseas and domestic markets. Jawan currently has a 10% lead over Sunny Deol’s film. However, despite all of the hype, the film has begun to face backlash, with Tamil Nadu’s politician Udaynidhi Stalin being one of the primary reasons.
Udhayanidhi Stalin, Tamil Nadu’s minister for youth welfare and sports development and a movie producer, previously sparked a debate after delivering a hateful speech towards a specific religion. Fans were quick to notice that the minister was already supporting Shahrukh Khan’s Jawan distribution in Tamil Nadu, resulting in the boycott trend. ‘Red Giant Movies’ is reportedly owned by Udaynidhi Stalin.
Apart from producing its own films, the banner also acquires the distribution rights to many films in the state. The distribution rights of upcoming pan-India films are shown on the Wikipedia page of Red Giant Movies, which is supported by Udya Stalin. Dream Big Films is Kerala’s distribution partner. Rumour has it that the rights were purchased for a record price for a Bollywood film.
