As of now, it seems unlikely that Mark Antony, the upcoming Tamil movie starring Vishal and S J Suryah, will open in theatres on September 15 as scheduled. The release of Mark Antony has been put on stay by the Madras High Court, according to the Times of India. This is undoubtedly bad news for the movie’s producers as the release date is only a few days away.
Lyca Productions had filed a lawsuit against Mark Antony’s leading man, Vishal, after the actor failed to pay the production house Rs 15 crore out of the Rs 21.29 he owed. It should also be noted that Vishal has been ordered to appear in court on September 12. The news is a major setback for the Mark Antony producers, as September 15 was thought to be an ideal release date for the film.
If the stay had not been imposed at the last minute, Mark Antony would have gotten a solo release. Neither Vishal nor the film’s producers have issued an official statement in response to the court order. For those who are unaware, Vishal and Lyca Productions have been fighting in court for quite some time. And it does not appear that the two parties’ dispute will be resolved anytime soon.
