In a recent revelation shedding light on the dynamics of casting in the film industry, director Suraj disclosed that the lead role in the film “Marudhamalai” was initially intended for actor Thalapathy Vijay. Suraj disclosed in an interview that Vijay had shown interest in the script and even made an advance payment. However, Vijay had to withdraw from the project due to scheduling conflicts with his commitment to the film “Sachein,” which eventually became a blockbuster in Tamil Nadu.

Furthermore, Suraj disclosed that he had also approached Ajith Kumar for the same role. Although Ajith appreciated the script, he declined the offer citing his ongoing portrayal of a police officer in the film “Kireedam” and his reservations about working alongside actor Vadivelu. Consequently, the director turned to Arjun Sarja, whom he had previously worked with as an assistant director on the film “Giri,” to fill the iconic cop role in “Marudhamalai.”

These insights into the casting process offer a glimpse into the intricacies and challenges faced by filmmakers in bringing their vision to the silver screen.
