In a shocking turn of events, Jose Thomas, one of the producers behind the highly anticipated 2023 period drama film “Thuramukham,” finds himself embroiled in controversy almost a year after its release. The film, helmed by acclaimed director Rajeev Ravi and featuring Nivin Pauly, failed to meet expectations upon its release, receiving lukewarm responses from audiences.
Now, Thomas faces legal troubles as he has been arrested by the District Crime Branch for alleged financial fraud amounting to rupees 8 crores and 40 lakhs. According to a report by Janam website, the arrest follows a complaint lodged by Gilbert, a Coimbatore resident, who accused Thomas of forging documents to secure the funds and failing to repay them.
Gilbert alleges that Thomas obtained 8.4 crores through fraudulent means and failed to fulfill the promised repayment. The District Crime Branch conducted the arrest at Thomas’s residence in Patturaikkal, Thrissur. The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation.
Further complicating matters, a report by Mathrubhumi suggests that Thomas’s financial misconduct extends beyond this single instance. It is reported that he forged documents claiming to be an exporter of cardamom, securing loans totaling 30 crores from various banks. These funds were purportedly diverted towards the production of “Thuramukham.”
Authorities are currently searching for four other individuals suspected of aiding Thomas in the financial scam. As investigations continue, the full extent of the alleged fraud surrounding the production of “Thuramukham” comes to light, casting a shadow over the once highly anticipated film.
